Cryotherapy, an innovative technique
Podiatrists are constantly looking for innovative methods to relieve pain, accelerate healing and provide their patients with effective treatment. Among the emerging techniques, cryotherapy stands out as a promising and versatile solution.
Cryosurgery in podiatry is a technique that uses extreme cold to destroy skin lesions of the foot, such as plantar warts and granulation tissue. With recent advances in application techniques and the development of cryosurgical devices, such as the CryoIQ device, cryotherapy has become widely used and one of the preferred methods in podiatry due to its safety, effectiveness, cost, and aesthetic results.
One of the main advantages of cryosurgery in podiatry is that it is minimally invasive, meaning that no incisions or stitches are required, making it a suitable treatment option for patients who are not good candidates for invasive procedures due to their health, age, or other factors.
The Cryo IQ brand
CryoIQ is the market leader in innovative cryosurgery equipment for the medical market. Originating from Sweden, this brand is committed to manufacturing excellent products that effectively treat warts between 1 and 18 mm in diameter depending on the model.
The entire manufacturing process of Cryo IQ products is done in-house, in their own factory. This approach allows them to have complete control over the quality and development process of their products.
CryoIQ devices are portable and compact and allow for precise treatment. They deliver a fine spray with extreme precision to the lesion, maintaining a constant freezing temperature of -89°C / -127°F and a freezing power of 725 psi. This cutting-edge technology ensures that skin lesion treatment with CryoIQ is fast, safe and cost-effective.
All nitrous oxide (N2O) gas cartridges have a built-in leak-free valve and no need to change gas cartridges between patients.
Benefits of Cryo IQ Products
- Fast and Effective: This technique works very well for treating plantar warts in the office. The procedure is fast and effective and only takes a few minutes to perform.
- Painless: Painless treatment improves the overall patient experience.
- Versatility: Cryotherapy can treat various skin conditions such as warts, plantar warts, granulation tissue, moles, molluscum contagiosum, dermatofibromas, seborrheic keratosis, actinic keratosis, and much more.
- Safe and Non-Invasive: Unlike some surgical or drug procedures, cryotherapy is a non-invasive method, without major side effects. Indeed, this procedure does not require any incisions or stitches and therefore allows the treatment of patients for whom the invasive procedure is risky.
- Cost-effective: The use of Cryotherapy is known to be cost-effective, although it does represent a certain purchase cost: starting at €282 for a Cryo IQ. These devices are durable over time; the gas cartridges have an integrated, leak-free valve and therefore do not need to be changed between patients.

Wart treatment management
Amendment 5 signed in 2023 between the National Union of Health Insurance Funds (Uncam), the National Federation of Podiatrists (FNP), and the National Union of Supplementary Health Insurance Organizations (Unocam) allowed the integration of new procedures covered by health insurance. Among these procedures, the treatment and monitoring of plantar warts carried out by chiropodists-podiatrists are now reimbursed.
The use of Cryotherapy is recognized in several medical fields and continues to democratize among podiatrists. Although it requires an investment, the effectiveness and profitability of this method are fully proven. Plantar warts are common but often stubborn, patients are looking for effective and minimally invasive treatment options.
By offering this solution to treat plantar warts and all other skin conditions, you can expand your patient base.
